Ben Frost : As seen on TV

26th May - 8th June 2005

As Seen On TV
1. The suburbs are exciting.
2. Teenagers who have sex are destined to die in grotesque ways.
3. There are no ugly women, only ugly men.
4. Cars will explode in all accidents.
5. Everyone has a 'dark' secret.
6. Haunted houses are never locked.
7. Thunderstorms spontaneously create murders.
8. Good guys will only get shot in the arm or leg.
9. Street vendor's carts are magnetically attracted to high-speed car chases.
10. To kill a vampire, you must set out 5 minutes before sunset.

Ben Frost explores the blurred lines between advertising and entertainment in his own world of reality television with over 30 new works.
As Seen on TV is his first solo painting show since 2003 after returning from Japan.
The opening reception will also feature a special performance by Sydney noise band 'The Death Set'.

Shannon Crees' exhibition ' devoir'  is a textural tapestry of figurative works evolving from her experience as a fashion illustrator.
The multilayered pieces draw from exotic stylised art practices and use images of objectified beauty,
both challenging and condoning society's aesthetic ideals.

PENDOLINO:Katie Hepworth & Miriam Mlecek

Wednesday April 27th 6-8pm (one night show)

a video + photographic installation

Staged on the eve of our indefinite departure from Australia, Pendolino is a reflection on the difficulty of a life lived in perpetual migration. In this life of constant transit, the exhilaration of being super-present in the city is tempered by being permanently absent from half of your life. Pendolino focuses on the moment post-arrival where one tries to piece together old friendships; the recalibration of a static memory to the reality of people and relationships that have continued evolving in your absence.
